Es unterscheidet binnen Sekunden zwischen natürlichen Diamanten und “laboratory grown“ Diamanten. Diamanten, die mittels CVD - Verfahren (chemical vapor deposition) oder die mittels HPHT - Verfahren (high pressure high tension) farbverbessert wurden, sind sehr schwer als Synthesen zu erkennen, aber erheblich billiger (30-40%) als Natürliche Diamanten.
