Participants (m/f) wanted for study on stressful memories/PTSD
At the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the Charité, Berlin, at St. Hedwig Hospital, we are conducting a study funded by the German Research Foundation on the effects of traumatic memories and PTSD symptoms on memory performance and neuronal correlates.
We are offering €150 for full participation over the entire duration of the study (10-12 hours), or €12.50 per hour for partial participation. Please read on for more details on the process etc.
How are our memory and brain function affected by traumatic memories?
- We use electroencephalography (EEG) with simple tasks performed on a PC to investigate these questions
- EEG is a passive method that is not harmful to health
- In addition, we want to use transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) to test whether the method has an effect on memory and brain function
- tACS is an established stimulation method for investigating motor and cognitive brain functions.
Criteria for participation:
- A history of traumatic experiences, with or without a PTSD diagnosis
- 18-55 years old
- No additional diagnosis of organic brain disease or neurological disorder, no metal implants and no current substance dependence.
- health insurance
If you would like to find out more, please send us a message via Kleinanzeigen with your telephone number. We will then call you for a brief screening and will be happy to answer any further questions you may have.

Note: This is a scientific study on traumatic memories with the aim of better understanding their neurophysiological aspects. Unfortunately, we cannot offer therapy or diagnostic assessment and are not directly connected to therapeutic facilities in the hospital.
